Registration information
Because of the high and unpredictable fluctuations in the exchange rate of the Hungarian forint (HUF) we would like to avoid potential financial risks and therefore we kindly ask the participants of the conference to pay the registration fee in HUF.Registration fees:
Regular registration fee, non-IAVS members: 114,000 HUF (approx. 300 Euro)
Regular registration fee, IAVS members: 106,400 HUF (approx. 280 Euro)
Student registration fee: non-IAVS members: 95,000 HUF (approx. 250 Euro)
Student registration fee, IAVS members: 87,400 HUF (approx. 230 Euro)
Optional programmes and fees:
Workshop 'Introduction to grassland-related spiders' (25th September): 7,600 HUF (approx. 20 Euros)
Bicycle rental: for exploring Szarvas and commuting between the Venue and the city centre in an eco-friendly way, the National Park kindly offered the possibility for renting bikes at a cheap price for the whole duration of the conference. Bike rental is available for 4,000 HUF (approx. 10 Euros). Please not the number of bicycles is limited.
Post-conference excursion (29th September - 1st October): 83,000 HUF (approx. 220 Euros).
The deadline for registration has been extended until July 16 2023.
The deadline for the payment of the registration fee is 30th July 2023.

Payment procedure: Payment is possible only via bank transfer in HUF. After the completion of the registration form, the participants will receive the instructions for bank transfer and a proforma invoice in email. After the bank transfer, the final invoice will also be sent by email.
Please note that the number of participants is limited to fit the capacities of the Venue and the mid-conference excursion.
Cancellation policy
All cancellations must be made in writing to the organizers of the EGC (organizers.egc2023@gmail.com). Registration fees will be refunded with a reduction of a 25% cancellation fee prior to 15th July 2023. After this date we regret that no refunds will be made, however substitute delegates will be accepted. By submitting the registration form, you are agreeing to these conditions
Financial support
Thanks to the IAVS, we can support a number of participants with travel grants. Travel grants will be awarded according to the IAVS criteria, based on income level and country of origin. They will preferentially be given to early-career and other financially constrained scientists. The support usually covers only part of the participant's costs, according to the number of successful applications.
Eligibility and requirements:
The applicants should be IAVS members.
To qualify for a travel grant, active participation at the conference (oral presentation or poster) is required.
Only the presenter of the contribution will be supported so each applicant should apply with a separate talk or poster and she/he will be the presenter.
After the conference, grantees must provide a short report of the event, and some photos that can be used in Palaearctic Grasslands.
Travel grants can be applied for during online registration until 20 June, including a short motivation letter. Applicants for IAVS travel grants must be IAVS members for the year 2023. Information about the results of the travel grant applications will be given at the latest by 30 June.
IAVS support for Ukrainian scientists
On top of the travel grants, participation by Ukrainian IAVS members is completely free (no conference fee) - the respective fees are directly paid by IAVS to the local organising committee. Additionally, Ukrainian participants can apply for travel grants to cover the costs of their journey.

Young investigator prize (YIP)
As in previous years, prizes will be awarded to young scientists for excellent presentation of their research (orally or in poster form). For these purposes, early career scientists (less than 35-year-old) will be asked during registration if they wish to participate in the contest. An applicant can apply for one category (best talk or poster) in one conference. During her/his presentation, the applicant needs to explain clearly her/his contribution to the work.
